DECR vice-chairman meets with minister plenipotentiary of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea

On 21 May 2018, Archimandrite Philaret (Bulekov), vice-chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations (DECR), met with Mr. Kim Il-hwan, minister plenipotentiary and director of cultural centre of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to the Russian Federation. 

They were joined at the meeting with Ms Maria Dzyga, assistant to Mr. Kim; Archpriest Sergy Zvonarev, DECR secretary for far abroad countries; and Mr. Dmitry Petrovsky, of the DECR secretariat for inter-Orthodox relations.

The Korean diplomat conveyed greetings from H.E. Woo Yoon-keun, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to the Russian Federation.

Archimandrite Philaret spoke of the historically good relations between the peoples of Russia and Korea.

Mr. Kim informed the DECR vice-chairman of the Spring Festival of Korean culture to take place in Russia in the late May.

The participants in the meetings discussed issues of mutual interest.
