DECR secretary for far abroad countries meets with high-ranking Qatar diplomat

On 7th November 2019, at the Department for External Church Relations, Archpriest Sergy Zvonarev, DECR secretary for far abroad countries, met with Mr. Waleed Mohd Alemadi, Deputy Ambassador, Minister Plenipotentiary of the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Russia. They were joined in the meeting by Mr. Makhmud Al-Hamza, political analyst of the Qatar Embassy in Russia. 

Archpriest Sergy Zvonarev greeted the Qatar diplomats on behalf of the chairman of the Department for External Church Relations, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk.

The participants in the meeting discussed new challenges and threats facing the community of nations, including such problems as terrorism and extremism, poverty, ecology, and the issues of sustainable development. Among the topics raised during the meeting was the dialogue between religious communities and their joint efforts aimed at upholding peaceful relationships between countries and peoples and maintaining stability in society.

The DECR representative and the Qatar diplomats concurred in that it would be necessary to continue cooperation with the view of strengthening interfaith dialogue and upholding justice-based international relations.
