DECR Chairman completes his working trip to Rome

On December 23, 2021, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, completed his working trip to Rome. At Fiumicino Airport, His Eminence was seen off by Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Vatican, A. A. Avdeyev, and Rev. Jaromir Zadrapa, a staff member of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity. 

The day before, Metropolitan Hilarion had meetings with Pope Francis of Rome and Cardinal Kurt Koch, head of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity. 

In the evening of that day, Metropolitan Hilarion visited the Church of St. Peter in Vincoli, where he venerated St. Peter’s fetters, and the Russian Orthodox Parish of the Holy Great Martyr Catherine.

In the morning of December the 23d, His Eminence venerated the shrines of the St. Peter Cathedral and after that met with the Russian Federation Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary A. A. Avdeyev in the Vatican.
