On April 29, 2023, Metropolitan Hilarion of Budapest and Hungary met with Pope Francis, who is making a pastoral visit to Hungary, at the Apostolic Nunciature in Budapest.
Archbishop Michael Banach, the Apostolic Nuncio to Hungary, participated in the meeting.
During the conversation, Metropolitan Hilarion told the Pontiff about the life of the Moscow Patriarchate's Hungarian diocese, its social and educational activities, as well as its interaction
with the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Esztergom–Budapest and other Christian denominations.
As a memento of the meeting, Metropolitan Hilarion presented Pope Francis with four volumes of his six-volume monograph "Jesus Christ: His Life and Teaching", translated into Italian, reports the official website of the Diocese of Budapest and Hungary.
