Fraternal talks between Primates of Russian and Albanian Orthodox Churches

April 28, 2018 – A meeting between His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and His Beatitude Archbishop Anastasios of Tirana and All Albania took place at the Archdiocese of the Albanian Orthodox Church in Tirana. 

Participating in the talk were several members of the Holy Synod of the Albanian Orthodox Church including Metropolitans Ignatios of Berat, Joan of Corce, Demetrios of Gjirokaster, Nicolla of Apollonia, Anthony of Elbasan, Nathanael of Amantia, and Bishop Asti of Byllis.

From the Russian Orthodox Church there were Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate department for external church relations (DECR), Archbishop Sergiy of Solnechnogorsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate administrative secretariat, Archpriest Nikolay Balashov, DECR vice-chairman, Archpriest Igor Yakimchuk, DECR secretary for inter-Orthodox relations, and Rev. Alexander Volkov, head of the Patriarchal Press Service.

They discussed the cooperation between the Russian and Albanian Orthodox Churches, especially in educational and theological areas, and a wide range of issues concerning the situation of Orthodoxy in the world and inter-Orthodox interaction.
