DECR chairman meets with Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Belarus

On 29th September 2019, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, who had arrived in Minsk to attend the celebrations marking the 30th anniversary of establishment of the Belarusian Exarchate, met with H.E. Mr. Dmitry Mezentsev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Belarus.

Metropolitan Hilarion and Mr. Mezentsev exchanged impressions of the celebrations and noted the importance of spiritual dimension in the life of the Russian and Belarusian peoples.

That same day Metropolitan Hilarion visited the Convent of Saint Elizabeth in Minsk, where he venerated the shrines of the Church of the ‘Reigning’ Icon of the Mother of God and the Church of the Holy Royal Passion-Bearers, and visited a guesthouse for pilgrims and a school.
