Primate of the Russian Church performs the memorial service at Metropolitan Nikodim (Rotov)’s grave

On October 15, 2019, after the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of the Trinity in the St. Alexander Nevsky Monastery of the Holy Trinity, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia led a procession from the Cathedral of the Trinity to the monastery’s St. Nicholas Cemetery to the grave Metropolitan Nikodim (Rotov) (1929-1978), an outstanding church figure and Patriarch Kirill’s spiritual father. 

Patriarch Kirill laid a wreath at the grave and said the Office for the Dead.

Talking part in the service was a great assembly of bishops and priests who came to St. Petersburg from other cities in Russia and from abroad for the commemorative events devoted to the 90th anniversary since Metropolitan Nikodim’s birth.

Present at the service were also St. Petersburg Governor A. Beglov, St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly Speaker V. Makarov and other officials.
