On 29th November 2019, with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, visited the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia. The hierarch was accompanied by Archpriest Igor Yakimchuk, DECR secretary for inter-Orthodox relations, and Subdeacon Vyacheslav Li. 

In Prešov the DECR chairman visited the Cathedral of the Holy Right-Believing Prince Alexander Nevsky and met with His Beatitude Metropolitan Rastislav of the Czech Lands and Slovakia.

During the meeting held in a warm atmosphere of brotherly love and mutual understanding His Beatitude Metropolitan Rastislav and Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk expressed satisfaction with the high level of bilateral relations between the Moscow Patriarchate and the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia and discussed prospects of their further development, in particular, in the spheres of theological education and Orthodox pilgrimage.
