His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus' expressed his condolences to the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in connection with the train crash that caused numerous deaths near the city of Takhta in the province of Sohag. The text of the Patriarchal message reads as follows:

His Excellency Mr. Abdel Fattah EL-SISI, President

The Arab Republic of Egypt

Your Excellency,

Dear Mr. President,

I was grieved to learn about the dreadful railway catastrophe that had occurred in the Sohag province, near the city of Tahta, claiming many people’s lives. As a result of the tragedy, dozens of people received severe injuries and wounds.

Sincerely sympathizing with you and all the Egyptian people, I ask you to convey my deep condolences to the relatives and friends of the victims, as well as wishes of the soonest recovery to the injured and words of support and consolation to all those affected by the disaster.
