His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus' expressed his condolences to the Archbishop of Makassar Johannes Liku Ada over the terrorist act in the Indonesian city of Makassar (the administrative center of the South Sulawesi province). As a result of the attack on the Catholic Church, 20 people were injured, the terrorists died on the spot.

The Most Reverend Johannes Liku ADA

Archbishop of Makassar

Your Eminence,

With sorrow I heard a report about an attack made on worshippers during a divine service on the Feast of the Entrance of Our Lord to Jerusalem - the day when the Roman Catholic Church begins the liturgical remembrance of the salvific Passions of Christ. This villainy shows that in our time, too, Christians continue to suffer for the faith.

I express my sincere condolences to you, the clergy and the faithful of the Archdiocese of Makassar, and all the victims of the incident and their loved ones and pray to Merciful God for a speedy recovery of the injured and fortitude and consolation to all the bereaved.

With sincere condolences,

+ KIRILL

PATRIARCH OF MOSCOW AND ALL RUS'
