Representatives of the Russian Church participate in the name’s day celebrations of the Patriarch of Jerusalem Theophilus

On 27th March 2021 the Greek Orthodox Church of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem celebrated the name’s day of her Primate the Most Blessed Patriarch of the Holy City of Jerusalem and All Palestine Theophilus III. Among those taking part in the solemnities was the head of the Russian Spiritual Mission in Jerusalem archimandrite Alexander (Yelisov), the mother superior of the Gornensky Convent in Ein Karem abbess Catherine (Chernysheva), as well as those who work at the Mission and the convent.

Official congratulations from the bishops and flock of the Greek Orthodox Church in Jerusalem were read aloud to His Beatitude by the secretary of the Greek Church in Jerusalem the archbishop of Constantina Aristarchus.

The representatives of the Russian Spiritual Mission also read out congratulations on behalf of His Holiness the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus Kirill. They also conveyed to His Beatitude congratulations addressed to him by His Eminence the metropolitan of Volokolamsk Hilarion, chairman of the Department of External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate.

Then the staff of the Russian Spiritual Mission personally congratulated the Primate of the Greek Church in Jerusalem on his name’s day and asked for his Primatial blessing to labour further in the field of church diplomacy, while the sisters of the Gornensky Convent sang “Many Years” to His Beatitude.
