On 13th April 2021, Hegumen Innokenty (Denshchikov), acting rector of St. John the Theologian church in Campina das Missões in Brazil, met with Carlos Justen, prefect of the city. They discussed the programme of events dedicated to the laying of the foundation stone of the chapel of Ss Cyril and Methodius, Equal-to-the-Apostles.

The consecration of the foundation stone will be celebrated on April 21 by Archpriest Anatoly Topala, dean of the Brazilian district of the Diocese of Argentina, with the blessing of Bishop Leonid of Argentina and South America.

The chapel is being constructed with support of the Campina das Missões municipality, the benefactors of the parish, and the prefect. Hegumen Innokenty thanked Mr. Justen for his active participation in the life of the Orthodox parish and presented him with an icon of the Saviour.

The chapel of Ss Cyril and Methodius, Teachers of the Slavs, is being constructed with the blessing of Bishop Leonid of Argentina and South America in commemoration of the visit of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia to the country five years ago and of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the Diocese of Argentina and South America of the Russian Orthodox Church.

His Holiness Patriarch Kirill visited the Republic of Cuba, the Republic of Paraguay and the Federal Republic of Brazil on February 11-22, 2016. Also, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill visited the Bellingshausen Russian research station on Waterloo island in Antarctica.
