On 22nd April 2021, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations (DECR), took part in the first session of the Organizing Committee for the World Conference on Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue planned for 2022.

Mr. Sergey Kiriyenko, First Deputy Chief of the Presidential Administration of Russia, chaired the session. Speaking to the preparation of the conference were members of both chambers of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, ministers, heads of governmental departments, and representatives of major religious communities.

The DECR chairman delivered a report on the Russian Church’s position on the topic. He welcomed an initiative of holding the forum and underscored the importance of strengthening relationships among nations and religious communities. Metropolitan Hilarion expressed the Department’s willingness to render all necessary assistance to the government agencies in preparing the conference.
