On July 11, 2021, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, met with His Beatitude Tikhon, Archbishop of Washington, Metropolitan of All America and Canada, at the St. Nicholas Patriarchal Cathedral in New York, after the Divine Liturgy celebrated at the St. Nicholas Patriarchal Cathedral, in which he concelebrated with the Primate of the Orthodox Church in America.

They discussed a wide range of issues concerning the development of cooperation between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Orthodox Church in America, as well as matters of current importance in the field of inter-Orthodox relations. The sides exchanged information about how the Church responded to the challenge of the coronavirus infection in Russia and other countries of the canonical space of the Moscow Patriarchate, as well as in America and Canada.

In conclusion of the meeting, His Eminence Hilarion wished Metropolitan Tikhon many happy returns of the day on the occasion of the 55th birthday and God’s help in his Primatial ministry.
