A Russian Church cleric concelebrates at the cathedral in the capital of Bulgaria

On November 12, 2021, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated at the Cathedral of St. Nedelya (Kiriakia).

On this day, the Serbian Orthodox Church commemorates the Holy King Stefan Milutin who has been especially venerated in Bulgaria and Serbia. Earlier, festivities marking the 700th anniversary of the demise of the saint were held in Bulgaria on October 28-30, 2021, according to the Revised Julian calendar. St. Stefan Uroš II Milutin ruled Serbia from 1275 to 1320. Nowadays, his holy relics lie in the Sofia cathedral church of St. Nedelya (Kiriakia), also called the Church of the Holy King.

With the blessing of His Holiness Neophyte, Patriarch of Bulgaria and Metropolitan of Sofia, officiating at the divine service was Bishop Polikarp of Belogradchik in concelebration with iconom-stavrofor Neluţ Oprea, representative  of the Romanian Orthodox Church in Bulgaria; hieromonk Mardarije, the abbot of the Poganovo Monastery of St. John the Theologian; Archimandrite Nicanoros, the abbot of the Ss Cosmas and Damian Monastery; Archimandrite Euthymios; Hieromonk Stephanos of the Troyan Monastery of the Dormition of the Theotokos; Archpriest Yevgeny Pavelchuk, secretary of the Representation of  the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia in Sofia; iconom-stavrofor Nikolaj Georgiev, rector of St. Nedelya cathedral church; clerics of the cathedral and of the Sofia bishopric.

Church hymns were chanted by the singers from churches in Sofia directed by Andrei Kasabov.
