On November 15, 2021, during his working trip to the United States, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, visited the Representation of the Moscow Patriarchate in the USA - St. Nicholas Cathedral in New York.

After a prayer and veneration of the cathedral’s shrines, the hierarch conveyed a blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia to the clergy and staff of the Representation.

His Eminence noted that the clergy of the Patriarchal cathedral are entrusted with the important task to represent the Russian Orthodox Church in the USA with dignity and to take pastoral care of the numerous compatriots who live in that country, so that, living among non-Orthodox people, they could not forget about their belonging to sacred Orthodox faith.

The archpastor said that as the coronavirus infection pandemic has caused the most of deaths in the United States of America, it is important that during divine services and in the parish life all the anti-epidemic measures prescribed by the Supreme Church Authority should be continued.

In the course of Metropolitan Hilarion’s meeting with the clergy and staff, Hegumen Nikodim (Balyasnikov) informed him about the current work of the Moscow Patriarchate Representation in the USA and the work of the Representation of the Russian People’s Council in the UNO, which has been located in the St. Nicholas Cathedral since 2005.

His Eminence Hilarion gifted copies of his theological works in English version to the representation and the parish library.
