Representative of the Russian Orthodox Church attends celebration marking an anniversary of the liberation of Sofia from the Ottoman yoke

On January 4, 2022, Archimandrite Vassian (Zmeyev), rector of the Representation of the Russian Orthodox Church in the capital of Bulgaria, took part in the traditional prayer service dedicated to the 144th   anniversary of the liberation of Sofia from the Ottoman yoke in 1877.

Officiating at the prayer service celebrated at St. Nedelya cathedral church was Bishop Polikarp of Belogradchik, a vicar of the Patriarch of Bulgaria. He was assisted by Protosyngel Vasily (Savov) of the Sofia bishopric, Archimandrite Vassian, and clerics of the Sofia bishopric.

Among those attending the prayer service were the mayor of Sofia, Ms. Yordanka Fandakova, official representatives of the Embassy of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Bulgaria, and Mr. Boris A. Gromov, director of the Moscow House in Sofia.
