Moscow Patriarchate’s faithful living in Turkey celebrate Christmas

On January 7, 2022, the feast of the Nativity of Christ, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated at the Church of Ss Constantine and Helena located in the territory of the summer residence of the Consulate General of Russia in Istanbul. Rev. Georgy Sergeyev, responsible for taking pastoral care of the Russian Orthodox faithful living in the Republic of Turkey and acting rector of the church, officiated at the divine service.

The festive Liturgy in Istanbul was attended by over sixty worshippers who came from the city of Bursa, their place of residence.

At the Litany of Fervent Supplication, prayers were lifted up for the deliverance of coronavirus infection.

After the divine service, Fr. Georgy read out Christmas message of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, greeted the worshippers with the feast and gave Christmas gifts to them.

Rev. Alexey Golovin, responsible for pastoral care of the Russian-speaking faithful living in the Antalya Province, celebrated the divine service on the feast of the Nativity of Christ at the premises rented by the community. The service was attended by over eighty people, including Mr. A. Sotnichenko, director of the Russian House in Ankara, and Mr. A. Adrianov, an employee of the Russian Consulate General.

The service being over, Fr. Alexey read out Christmas message of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill and delivered a sermon.

The festive divine service was celebrated for the first time at the community in the city of Alanya by Rev. Dimitry Bogatyr. Over sixty worshippers received the Holy Mysteries of Christ.

On January 8 and 9, Rev. Georgy Sergeyev celebrated the Divine Liturgies in the cities of Kuşadasi, Aydin Province, and Izmir located in the Aegean Region. Some thirty worshippers attended.

On January 10, Rev. Georgy celebrated the Divine Liturgy for the faithful of the Moscow Patriarchate living in Samsun, a city located on the Black Sea coast of Turkey, and on January 12, he celebrated in the city of Eskişeher located about 300 km southeast of Istanbul. Communication Service
