The ‘OCU’ supporters have failed to evict a priest of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church from the parish house of the church of Nativity of the Mother of God at the Pyatigory village in the Rovno region in Ukraine.

After multiple court sessions, the case was sent to the Court of Appeal, the highest judicial body of the country. It has resolved to dismiss the complaint of the ‘OCU’ religious community of the Pyatigory village, Zdolbunov district, Rovno region. The court judgement has come into force from the moment of its adoption; it is final and without appeal. Thus, the court has recognized the ownership of a community of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. It is reckoned in the UOC that such judgements will become the basis for many communities of the canonical Church to restore their registration. Today, there are scores of such cases heard in Ukrainian courts.

The head of the department for inter-confessional regulation of the Diocese of Rovno of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Archpriest Victor Zemlyanoy stresses that legal actions have been prepared in all the parishes unlawfully re-registered as of today in the Rovno Region. “In total, 32 parishes have been seized and 42 more parishes have been reregistered by schismatics, but in the parishes themselves there are still the faithful of the canonical Church’, he added.
