DECR Chairman meets with His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem

On February 20, 2022, His Beatitude Theophilos III, Patriarch of the Holy City of Jerusalem and All Palestine, received Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations (DECR). The audience took place at the premises of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem. 

The DECR chairman conveyed cordial greetings and congratulatory message from His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia to the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Jerusalem with the coming celebration of his 70th birthday and presented him with a set of pectoral icons. 

Metropolitan Hilarion thanked His Beatitude for an opportunity to celebrate at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. 

During the talk, which was held in a warm atmosphere of confidence, various issues of mutual interest were broached. For instance, the situation of Christians in the Hoy Land and in the entire Middle East was discussed. 
His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos conveyed his good wishes and an icon of the Nativity of Christ as a gift to His Holiness Patriarch Kirill. 

The talk continued during dinner. 

Taking part in the meeting and the repast were Metropolitan Isychios of Kapitolias; Archbishop Aristarchos of Constantina, secretary general of the Jerusalem Patriarchate; Archpriest Nikolay Balashov, DECR vice-chairman; Hieromonk Dometian (Markarian), deputy head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem; and Archdeacon Mark (Henderson).
