On the air of the TV programme “The Church and the World”, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, at a request from the presenter Ms. E. Gracheva, spoke about the conversation that took place on March 16, 2022, through video link between Patriarch Kirill and Pope Francis of Rome.

The head of the DECR explained that the remote format for communication between the Primates of the Russian Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholic Church was conditioned by “the circumstances of the present time and the urgency of the negotiations”.

His Eminence pointed to the importance of the conversation between the Primates of the larges Christian Churches for discussing in detail the critical situation in Ukraine.

“In the first place, the heads of the Churches certainly stressed the need to exert every effort for resolving differences by peaceful way. For relations between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholics Church, such negotiations, such meetings in persons, at least in the remote mode, are very important”, Metropolitan Hilarion resumed.
