The Amal special school in Bāb Muşallá area of the capital of Damascus has received a regular supply of humanitarian aid. Studying in the school, which name is translated into Russian as hope, are physically disabled children suffering from serious illness since birth or those maimed during hostilities. Over a half of more than 150 pupils cannot walk unassisted.

The Representation of the Russian Orthodox Church in Damascus has been taking care for the Amal school for some years. The delivery of a new consignment of wheelchairs was reported by the Representation website on April 11.

Various relief consignments, including so much needed wheelchairs, were delivered to the school several times with the assistance of the Damascus Representation of the Russian Church. The first action took place on January 13, 2021. Also, the school received humanitarian aid on separate occasions earlier. Delivered were medical equipment, including tonometers, personal hygienic aids, as well as presents and candies for children.
