On May 25, 2022, in Drogobych, Lvov region, the city council department headed by Mayor Taras Kuchma announced the St. Job of Pochayev church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church as property of the city community and sealed it up to be further transferred to the ‘OCU’, reports the Union of Orthodox Journalists with reference to the Media Drogobichchina website.

Since the church has been built on the municipal land but the church community has failed to register its property right so far, all the property on Truskavetskaya St, 56 now belongs to the city, the administration declared.

The rector of the community of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Archpriest Nikolay Mandzyuk, stated that the permission to build the church and the appropriate project documents had been officially registered with the city architecture department, but his statements was ignored by the authorities.

The city commission also heard a statement of eighteen city residents, who claimed to be parishioners of the church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and wished to move to the uncanonical church of Ukraine (‘OCU’). Moreover, the commission also heard a statement of residents living near the church, who ‘wish to come to the Ukrainian church’.

Present at the commission meeting was a representative of the ‘orthodox church of Ukraine’, who declared that the ‘OCU’ diocese of Drogobych-Sambor had made a decision earlier that morning to incorporate the religious community of the St. Job of Pochayev Church.

After the meeting of the city council commission, the church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Drogobych was sealed up.
