On June 23, 2022, Metropolitan Hilarion of Budapest and Hungary met with the deputy prime minister of the Hungarian government and chairman of the Christian Democratic Party in the country, Mr. Zsolt Semjén.

His Eminence informed his interlocutor about his appointment as administrator of the Diocese of Budapest-Hungary by the decision of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church. Mr. Semjén warmly welcomed the archpastor, with whom he was well acquainted for many years, and expressed delight over the continuation of cooperation in the common cause of preserving traditional values, strengthening the institute of family and supporting Christian confessions in Hungary, the diocesan website reports.
