Metropolitan Leonid expressed special gratitude for the help in the registration procedure to the Minister of Territorial Administration of the Central African Republic, Mr. Bruno Yapande.

The Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church resolved on December 29, 2022 that the Patriarchal Exarchate for Africa be established at the numerous requests of African clergy who disagree with the head of the Patriarchate of Alexandria functioning in the continent who recognized the uncanonical Orthodox Church of Ukraine. As of the time of its establishment, the exarchate was joined by 102 clergy from eight African countries.
