On July 19, 2022, at the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, DECR chairman Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk met with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the People’s Republic of China A. I. Denisov.

Metropolitan Anthony presented the Russian diplomat with the Russian Orthodox Church’s Order of the Holy Prince Alexander Nevsky, Degree II, conferred on him by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia in acknowledgement of his contribution to the development of church-state relations, his support for the efforts made by the Russian Orthodox Church with regard to China and in connection of his 70th birthday.

During the meeting, they discussed a wide range of issues concerning the cooperation of the Russian Orthodox Church with Russian diplomatic representations in China.
