DECR chairman meets with His Beatitude Patriarch John X of Antioch

On September 1, 2022, Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, who is leading the delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church at the 11th General Assembly of the World Council of Churches in Karlsruhe, Germany, met with His Beatitude John X, Patriarch of Great Antioch and All the East, who came to the Assembly as a honorary guest.

The DECR chairman conveyed to the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Antioch a fraternal greeting from His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.

His Holiness John X congratulated Metropolitan Anthony on his appointment to the important post of the head of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate and wished him success in his work to preserve and foster Orthodox unity. They discussed prospects for the further development of cooperation between the Patriarchates of Antioch and Moscow, the situation in the Orthodox world and a number of other issues of mutual concern.

Participating in the meeting were Metropolitan Isaac of Germany and Central Europe (Orthodox Church of Antioch) and Archpriest Igor Yakimchuk, acting vice-chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate.
