On September 13, 2022, in Nur-Sultan, Republic of Kazakhstan, Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations (DECR), met with His Beatitude Theophilos III, Patriarch of the Holy City of Jerusalem and All Palestine. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 7th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.

DECR chairman conveyed to His Beatitude warm fraternal greetings from His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’ and pointed out that the Russian Orthodox Church was happy to welcome in her canonical territory Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem, the head of the Mother of all Churches, as a dear guest.

The Primate of the Orthodox Church of Jerusalem congratulated Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk on his appointment to the post of DECR chairman and wished him success in his responsible ministry.

The participants in the meeting discussed a wide range of issues pertaining to relations between the two Churches.
