Hierarchs of Serbian Orthodox Church visit DECR

On October 17, 2022, hierarchs of the Serbian Orthodox Church - Metropolitan Joannikije of Montenegro and the Littoral and Bishop Jovan of Slavonia visited the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate and met with the DECR chairman, Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk.

Present at the meeting were Archpriest Igor Yakimchuk, acting vice-chairman of the DECR, Archpriest Ostoja Knezevic, secretary of the Metropolis of Montenegro and the Littoral, Sub-deacon N. Joksimovic and Ms S. A. Luganskaya, interpreter.

During the conversation, which was held in a warm atmosphere of fraternal mutual understanding, the sides discussed the state of and prospects for the development of relations between the Russian and the Serbian Orthodox Churches.

In conclusion of the talk, the DECR chairman and his guest exchanged tokens of the meeting.

On October 18, the commemoration day of the Synaxis of Metropolitans of Moscow, Metropolitan Joannikije and Bishop Jovan will concelebrate with His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia at the Cathedral of the Assumption in the Moscow Kremlin.

On the same day, the hierarchs of the Serbian Orthodox Church will attend the opening of the festival ‘Serbian consolation of the Russian Heart’ at the St. Tikhon Orthodox University of Humanities.
