President of Protection of Christian Identity Center visited DECR

On October 20, 2022, the president of the Protection of Christian Identity Center (Belgrade), Mr D. Valvanidis, who has come to Moscow for the Consolation of the Russian Heart Festival, visited the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate and met with its acting vice-chairman Archpriest Igor Yakimchuk. They were joined by A. Y. Khoshev, member of the DECR secretariat for inter-Orthodox relations.

Mr Valvanidis recounted the tasks and activities of his Christian Identity Protection Center. Father Igor Yakimchuk introduced the guest to the Russian Orthodox Church’s efforts to oppose de-Christianization and propagation of Christianophobia.

In a warm atmosphere of mutual understanding, they discussed the current state of inter-Orthodox relations and prospects for the development of fraternal cooperation between the Russian and the Serbian Orthodox Churches.

In conclusion of the conversation, they exchanged tokens of the meeting.

On October 18, Mr Valvanidis worshiped during the Patriarchal Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of the Assumption in the Moscow Kremlin. The same day, the guest fr om Serbia attended the solemn opening of the Serbian Consolation of the Russian Heart Festival in the St. Tikhon Orthodox University, wh ere he is to present a paper as part of the educational series of lectures ‘Russian-Serbian Heritage.
