On April 10, 2023, in the city of Khmelnitsky, supporters of the OCU seized the church of St. George of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and the nearby spiritual centre.

At about 16:00, a group of raiders clad mainly in sportswear penetrated into the territory of the church. Having failed to cope with the central door, the assaulters broke open the side door and entered through the sacristy and sanctuary.

After that, the invaders held a meeting at which they voted for the transfer of the church to the OCU. The meeting was initiated by the deputy of the Khmelnitsky Regional Council Yu. Smal and the deputy of the Khmelnitsky City Council V. Pidhychuk.

The meeting was attended by people who have nothing to do with the St. George community of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and they all had been registered to vote previously. At the same time, the parishioners of the church, who came for the planned Sacrament of Anointing the Sick, were not allowed to the church territory, the Press Service of the UOC diocese of Khmelnitsky reports.

The clergy and faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church have appealed to the law enforcement bodies.
