On May 6, 2023, there took place a traditional Orthodox procession with the cross from Munich to Dachau, which is held every year, telegram channel of the Berlin and German diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia reports. The procession has been held for over ten years with the participation of many young people.

The procession began with a prayer service at the monastery of St. Job of Pochaev and continued to the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial. The participants were led by Rev. Alexej Lemmer on their 17 km length journey.

During stopovers there were read excerpts from the works of St.Nikolaj (Velimirović) of Serbia who was imprisoned in Dachau in September 1944 and spent several months in the camp.

There is an Orthodox chapel of the Resurrection of Christ at the memorial site built with the blessing of Patriarch Alexy of Moscow and All Russia in commemoration of the compatriots who had died here and in other Fascist concentration camps.

The chapel has been built in the style of wooden steepled churches of the Russian North and is one of the three Christian memorial chapels at the former concentration camp. The other two are Catholic and Protestant chapels built earlier. The Orthodox chapel was consecrated in 1995, the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the Dachau concentration camp. There are an uncommon icon in the chapel depicting the Saviour leading the numerous prisoners to freedom and an icon of St. Nikolaj of Serbia.

Participants in the procession prayed at panikhida celebrated at the Resurrection of Christ chapel.
