Delegation of Malankara Church arrives in Russia

On 2nd of March 2024, with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’, a delegation of the Malankara Syrian Orthodox Church arrived in Russia from India. On behalf of the Malankara Church’s educational institutions they will conduct negotiations with the Moscow Theological Academy on promoting cooperation in church singing and icon painting.

The Indian delegation led by Metropolitan Zacharias Mar Aprem of the Kadampanad Diocese includes Priests Mathew Koshy and Anoop Raju. During their visit, they are accompanied by Hieromonk Pyotr (Akhmatkhanov) of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations.

The delegation began their visit with the Holy Trinity and St. Sergius Lavra and the Moscow Theological Academy. On 3rd of March, they attended the Divine Liturgy. Bishop Kirill of Sergiyev Posad and Dmitrov warmly greeted the guests and pointed out that the Russian Orthodox Church and the Malankara Church of India have a long history of bilateral relations.
