The first Portuguese version of the Orthodox Prayer Book (Devocionário Ortodoxo) has come out in Portugal. The Prayer Book, just as the Priest’s Service Book, which was published earlier, have come out with a blessing of Archbishop Nestor of Madrid and Lisbon. The texts were translated and published by Hegumen Peter (Prutyanu) and Hierodeacon Hieromyn (Tomaz), clerics of the Parish of St. John Chrysostom in the city of Cascais.

The Prayer Book has been published by the renowned Portuguese-Brazilian Catholic Publishers “Paulus”, which will help distribute the editions in bookstores in Portugal and Brazil.

Along with the morning and evening prayers, the Prayer Book contains canons, akathistoses and the order of preparation for Holy Communion, as well as Psalms and hymns included in the main church services.

The Prayer Book, 230 pages, is laid out in two colours and available in hard and soft covers.

‘We hope that the accomplished work will be useful not only to Portuguese, Brazilians and other Lusophones who have embraced Orthodoxy, but also Roman Catholics, who are growing more and more interested in the Orthodox liturgy’, Hegumen Peter (Prutyanu) remarked.
