On December 10, 2021, with a blessing of His Beatitude Sava, Metropolitan of Warsaw and All Poland, a delegation of the Foundation for Support of Christian Culture and Heritage led by the Foundation’s executive director Ye. I. Skopenko visited the Ss Martha and Mary Convent on the Holy Grabarka Hill and the Convent of the Holy Great Martyr Catherine at the Zaleszany village.

The delegation was accompanied by A. Yu. Khoshev, a staff member of the Department for External Church Relation secretariat for inter-Orthodox relations.

On the Holy Grabarka Hill, the guests from Russia were warmly welcomed by Sister Ermionia, mother superior of the Ss Martha and Mary Convent, who showed them the convent’s churches dedicated to the Transfiguration of the Lord and to the Icon of the Mother of God the Joy to All the Afflicted. She also told them about the Hill of Crosses and the convent established on it in 1947, which has become one of the centers of Orthodoxy in Poland and a place of mass pilgrimages on the Feast of the Holy Transfiguration.

On the same day, the delegation of the Foundation and the DECR representative visited the Convent of the Great Martyr Catherine at the Zaleszany village, the people of which suffered martyrdom for the Orthodox faith in 1946. The guests were warmly welcomed by the mother superior of the convent, Sister Elizabeth. They venerated the shrines of the convent and saw the convent church under construction, which will be dedicated to the Holy Great Martyr Catherine and the holy martyrs of Chelm and Podlasie.
